Purr....LIGHTING!!

I spend a good amount of my time for clients poking around New York City's many shops looking for the PERFECT piece. Here are some of my recent lighting finds still looking for the perfect client. Purrrrr.

Love this simple and elegant ceiling fixture by Lillian August for Currey and Co (catalog number 9050).
From the same collection, this graceful and uber chic table lamp (catalog number 6294)

From Alison Berger's Collection for Holly Hunt, I give you Lens Sconce (catalog number LNS-SCN)
Proof beautiful lighting doesn't have to break the bank? Check out the Venezia Chandelier from ZGallerie.
This Ruhlmann Style Two Arm Scone from Urban Archaeology comes in 11 finishes! (catalog number UA44-2IS)

I love the way the iron work frames the shade on the Remy Four Light from Murray Feiss (catalog number F2468)
This bronze chandelier from the Cancan Collection at Forecast Lighting could live just about anywhere (catalog number F1491).

Just the tip of the lighting iceberg! Stay tuned for more inspired choices and my tips on how to find great lighting for any budget.

Some Things About Me

In no particular order:

I love the beach and ocean. But only when it's deserted.
I am both mother and daughter.
I love music. It heals.
I miss my Grandmother.

I married the same man three times. Wait. Four times. I have plans to see him on a beach in Hawaii sometime.
I love animals. Except the ants in the kitchen.
Puzzles are fun.
My daughter was born at home.

I studied musical theater in college and really love show tunes (much to my hubby's dismay).
Laughing through tears is my favorite emotion.
I don't have a favorite book, song, or color.
But I really like JD Salinger, David Gray, and all shades of bluish greenish magic.
I love great design.
I studied French, German, Italian, and American Sign Language yet speak only English fluently. I hate this.
Greece is the most beautiful place on earth.

I've lived in Europe. I'd like to again.
I recently found my High School yearbook and read that my aspirations were to marry a wonderful man and wander the world barefoot. This is still true (and I'm halfway there).
I am a breastfeeding, baby wearing, bed sharing, cloth diapering , organic eating super crunchy sort of mom.
I love the Sufi poets.
I make truly awful coffee. I hate this.
My family is from the deep south, and all the recipes I learned as a child began by melting a stick of butter. I'm slowly rewriting them.
I love my parents.
Frogs are creepy.
I think I could live off of dark chocolate, dried mango, and avocados. Oh, and red wine.

I love love.
I find beauty, inspiration, and ART in everything, everywhere, EVERYDAY and hope to always find, appreciate and share it.

In this blog I will share design ideas from my experiences as an interior designer in New York City, re-imagined recipes from my Alabama childhood, information on natural childbirth, stories from my world travels, craft ideas, music, adventures in healthy living, and once she starts talking, funny things my daughter says and other exciting Mamaville tales.
